My grandmother Angie is a real trooper. We’ve been sitting at the table for about twenty minutes now, locked in complete silence. And then just as I typed that, she stood up and walked away. Funny how that works. At any rate, I’m enjoying her company today. She is this adorable little urchin that will do pretty much whatever you have in mind. She isn’t a victim of complaints. She’s just along for the ride. And now that she’s back, staring out the window at the lovely day, I feel it only appropriate to no longer write about her and move on.
I went to a football game last night. Funny, because I just finished talking about how I don’t like that sort of thing. Well it wasn’t exactly for the love of the game. My step-sister is on varsity cheer squad for her school, so I went with my step-mom to cheer her on and watch the game. I shocked myself throughout the game by cheering more than expected (like a fan), standing up when our team ran into the end zone, and doing the “Bruin Paw” with the high school students. I can justify the Bruin Paw motion because it resembles something a wizard might do with a hand…hard to explain. Either way, I feel like I’m either an early-blooming sports mother or a late-blooming high school student.
In other news, I forgot to mention in my last update what I will be doing for my next vacation. Drum roll please…
One of my oldest and dearest friends, Dana, has invited me to spend Thanksgiving holiday with her and her family. I am beyond words excited. I spent three summers in a row out there for a week when I was twelve, thirteen and almost fifteen, and I’ve been craving another round ever since. Just over eight years later isn’t too long to wait, right?
Dana and her dad are making all sorts of plans for stuff that we can do, places we can eat, and all the fun in between. I also get to watch her run in a marathon of sorts. I’m a bad friend for not being able to recite the details, but she’s running all the same, and I’m very proud of her! After a few days with them, I will end the trip at my cousin Jill’s house with her and her family. I have stayed at Jill’s house every trip I’ve made, so seeing them again will be a real treat. Eight years is much too long, me thinks!
I need to shut down for now. I am heading out for a movie soon with grandma and my step-mom, followed by a delicious dinner…somewhere. More later!
