Okay, here I go. I wanted to make a little note of what’s to come in my blog for those who are avid readers. I’m sure there are more things I’m going to change in 2011 for my blog than this list, but here is a start:
1. More book reviews.
I’m constantly reading, whether it be for school or fun. My problem is that I want to be a book blogger, but I haven’t been doing any book blogging. What gives, right? …right! I’m putting a stop to this. Full-time work and full-time school keep me from reading a five books a week like some of you dedicated folks out there, but I’d like to get through enough to write about at least a few each month. Alas, I’m working on that.
2. More writing.
Like reading, I’m constantly writing. I won’t bore anyone with the school aspect of my writing (unless it’s a really good lit-related essay). But I’m always writing little poems or short stories. Perhaps it’s unwise to put those on my blog, but it may happen. I’ve done it before, so I could always do it again. Also, more writing in general needs to happen. I’ve been slacking as of late. But 2011 is a new year, and I’m ready for it!
3. Dickens reading contest.
I’m starting a Dickens Capstone course spring semester. The list isn’t out yet, so I’m not going to get this started for a couple weeks. But know that this is coming. I’d like for others to participate in this and put their two cents in on the books. It’s kind of like a book club, but all online (Sorry, Adam…you can shake your fist now). I’ll have much more information on this once the syllabus is handed to me. I hope at least someone else joins in on this. If it goes well…I’m doing more in the summer!
4. Harry Potter Cookbook Challenge continuation.
Many things took me from this challenge, mainly a writing challenge and the holidays, but also school and work (you know, the usual stuff). I will be getting back to this because Dinah Bucholz created something wonderful, and I want to hold up my end by continuing on with the cookbook challenge. That will be starting in January. No exceptions!
5. Launch travel page.
This year alone I went to England, Canada and Seattle. Already I have plans for Chicago and Las Vegas next year. I’ve also done France, Chicago, and various other little stops along the way. It’s time to make that travel page, n’est pas? There’s a tab for it on this blog, but it’s sitting there a bit lonely at the present moment. The poor child has no growth! All in good time, folks. It will happen this year.
That’s all I have for now. I’m off to meet up with a friend at Barnes & Noble. I have a gift card to spend!
