Thank you to everyone who signed up for the Charles Dickens Book Giveaway and for your great answers. As outlined, I wanted fifteen responses in order to give out two books. There were six responders, which is excellent, but that means just one book. After doing a randomized drawing, abiiglorii was selected as the winner. Congratulations, Abbey! I’ll contact you about receiving this awesome prize!
1. My favorite Dickens is, as I think I told you/recommended, Hard Times. I think it’s absolutely fabulous. You see Dickens in very rare form, extremely sarcastic and his characters are so, so misguided that it’s pretty humorous. I just think Hard Times is fabulous. I love me some Tale of Two Cities as well-I think that it’s the most underrated love story of all time.
2. What I’d most like to read is David Copperfield. I just found a copy of it in my basement last night when I was rooting through some old books of my grandfather’s and I’m excited to put it to use. In general, my favorite writer is either Jonathon Safran Foer, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, or Henry James. I’m not sure how they really correlate to Dickens [or if they do at all], but I find them fabulous. Especially CRZ. Straight genius if you ask me.
Thank you to everyone else who signed up for the giveaway. Don’t fret, there will be more chances to win books. In fact, I will be hosting a giveaway next week. This one will involve winning a book of your choice. Please check back next week for details.
What are you doing this weekend?
