I started an online literary journal this week. For my Literary Editing class we had to put together a project that included at least one piece of our own work. I decided to make a blog website, mainly because it’s something I can easily continue with, and also because I already know how to blog (when I actually make the time to blog).
If anyone wants to check out the site, please visit Amalgam Blast. It features writing and visual from some really talented individuals. More content will be added as I continue with this project. Any and all feedback is appreciated on the site.
In other news, I’ve been busy with school and work for the most part. Finals are the next two weeks. As much as I love school, I can’t wait for a break. I also can’t wait to get back to normal full-time hours at work.
And now, for some writing.
The poem below is based on the concept of found poetry. Today has been random. Here we go.
Side note: No drugs were involved in the writing of this poem. I prefer coffee, thanks.
Side note #2: I don’t consider coffee to be a drug.
Only In Kenya
The reefer, if you know what that means,
tastes like snozzberries.
That explains the spring in his step.
Nobody knows my name.
We’re making a change.
The art tastes like Ferngully
and whomps your willow black.
Beat. Beat. Beat.
What are you looking forward to about the summer? Any trips planned?
Have you ever played with writing found poetry?
