Today I am writing on behalf of someone who cannot write for himself.
Readers, meet Buster Brown.
Buster Brown is my friend Kelsey’s dog who is in need of surgery. He has a partially torn ACL and needs surgery on his left hind leg. Buster is looking to have a rather expensive surgery soon, and the two could use some help. The website ChipIn is hosting a spot for people to donate to the surgery. Read on for more about Buster Brown and his surgery.
Here is what Kelsey said about Buster Brown: “He is about 5 years old and has been with me for about 4 years now. We rescued Buster from a neglected and abused home. Buster was left in a dirty kennel in a dark basement for most of his first year of life. Buster is definitely part Rottweiler and it has been guessed that he is also part Staffordshire Bull Terrier due to his unique ears. Upon rescuing Buster, he was very timid of everyone and unsure of being able to do anything. With my other dog, Wesson, he has been able to learn how to be a “regular dog” and enjoy life. Buster enjoys chasing my cats, playing with Wesson, looking out the window for squirrels, and playing tug of war. He may look harsh on the exterior, but he is a sweetheart when it comes down to it.”
About Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy: I am no expert on surgery, so I am going to reference you to this website that has a thorough explanation. In short, this specific surgery will allow Buster Brown to heal faster and have the ability to move around like before complications arose. This is a surgery that give him his life back and keep him from further suffering. He went through a lot before Kelsey rescued him. The cost of the surgery is $2,500, plus there will be need for post-operation visits.
I know people can be skeptical when donating to a person/animal they don’t know personally. Also, I would obviously be biased since I am friends with the dog’s owner. But I can assure you that Kelsey is highly dedicated to her pets. Her house is a home to another dog, Wesson, and ten cats (in no particular order): Smokey, Cleo, Rak, Tek, Sugar, Cali, Tweekers, Hobo, Elvis, and Mystique. Kelsey is also an active and dedicated volunteer for 4 Luv of Dog.
If you have any questions or need further explanation on the surgery, please leave a comment and I will be sure to have Kelsey or myself answer the question.
